Aletheia Agora — Inaugural Gathering June 1, 2026

Two sessions will be offered to welcome everyone across time zones:

AM Session: 6:30–8:00 AM Pacific Time

PM Session: 5:00–6:30 PM Pacific Time

Cost: $10 USD

An open gathering place for meditative inquiry, poetry, and collective unfoldment.

The Aletheia Agora is a new community offering. A space to practice outside the structure of a course curriculum. Think of it as Alētheia meets Zen: an open gathering for meditative inquiry, poetry, koans, light movement, and dialogue.

No prior experience of Aletheia Unfolding is required. No framework, no map, no method. Just the practice of sitting with what is and letting something unfold between us.

The name comes from the ancient Greek agora — the open square at the heart of the city where philosophers wandered, citizens gathered, and Socrates worked. A place where thinking happened in the open air, between people, in real contact with each other.

All are welcome.

Our First Gathering: In Silence by Thomas Merton

We will begin with Thomas Merton's poem In Silence as our starting point for meditative inquiry and dialogue.

Be still.
Listen to the stones of the wall
Be silent, they try
to speak your

name.
Listen
to the living walls.

Who are you?
Who
are you? Whose
silence are you?

Who (be quiet)
are you (as these stones
are quiet). Do not
think of what you are
still less of
what you may one day be.

Rather
be what you are (but who?)
be the unthinkable one
you do not know.

O be still, while
you are still alive,
and all things live around you

speaking (I do not hear)
to your own being,
speaking by the unknown
that is in you and in themselves.

“I will try, like them
to be my own silence:
and this is difficult. The whole
world is secretly on fire. The stones
burn, even the stones they burn me.
How can a man be still or
listen to all things burning?
How can he dare to sit with them
when all their silence is on fire?”

— Thomas Merton
